Pulmonary thromboembolism (PE) refers to the frequent cardiovascular complications that require emergency

care. From March 2008 to May 2016, ultrasound transthoracic examination was performed in

100 patients operated in the Specialized Clinical Cardiac Surgical Hospital for PE. Echocardiography data

were compared with pulmonary angiography, CT with contrast and intraoperative data. Echocardiography is

an accessible and safe method of investigation, which is the most informative non-invasive screening

method for diagnosing pulmonary hypertension, allowing differential diagnostic search, assessing the

structural and functional state of the heart and prognostic parameters of pulmonary hypertension, assess

the type of blood flow in the pulmonary artery, and calculate the pressure in the pulmonary artery.
